Craft asked for a hybrid: an editorial brand shoot blended with full event coverage of the Big Red Gravel Run. It was built around a specific photographic style and only a handful of inspiration images. That look had to be pinpointed, made distinct, and carried through athletes who had never been in front of a camera.
All of it happened on remote terrain along the Rouge River, with no GPS signal, no way to reach the team on course, and a tornado alert on the final day

The creative direction was locked before the event. A moodboard merged Craft’s references with a distinct visual signature and was approved by the brand ahead of time. Gear, weather contingencies, shooting spots, and travel between them were all planned in advance.
On site, the athletes were coached through every setup, so the images felt editorial without feeling forced. Local knowledge filled the gaps the map could not, making it possible to track an unmarked course and stay ahead of the riders across three days.
Craft published the content across Instagram and LinkedIn, drawing strong engagement from their community. The final images matched the direction the brand had set out to achieve, and all the athletes themselves shared the work.
