Creative direction
Covering the third edition of Race Across Québec meant producing four high-end reels across five days, each due overnight for next-day posting. The 1000, 500, 300, and 200 km fields were all in play, from the 1000 km departure in Québec City to the finish line in Terrebonne.
The real difficulty was logistics. A constantly moving field of athletes, spread across hundreds of kilometres of open road, had to be reached at the right place and time. Sleep was minimal, and the windows to travel, shoot, and edit were narrow.
The creative direction was set with RAQ’s marketing and content team before the race, and the team gave full freedom on the reel style. Each reel was assigned its own role in the story of the race: the departure, the road, the recap, and the finish.
Logistics were built as tightly as the edits. A van was shared with the event photographer, food was prepped in advance, and nights were spent roadside. Key vantage points were mapped ahead of time, and the race’s live tracking system was used to intercept riders as they came through. Shooting, editing, and delivery held to an overnight rhythm for five straight days.
RAQ’s event posts drew roughly 800,000 views over ten days, and the account gained around 700 new followers during the race. The response to the content was strongly positive, both online and in person, from participants and spectators alike.
